Bride, unicorn and other worlds: Julia Curylo's exhibition in Warsaw
Current exhibition
At the exhibition, Julia Curylo analyzes the attitude of 21st century people to faith, mysticism and religion. The problem of commercialization of the religious sphere, the presence of pop culture in it, as well as the aesthetics of kitsch accompanying the Catholic faith - these are the issues that particularly interest the artist.
Curylo draws inspiration primarily from surrealism and neo-pop. Religious objects appear in her paintings, including: figurines of saints that the artist buys in devotional shops. He depicts in detail typified and expressionless faces, bright colors, and characteristic gestures.
